Randolph retells the origin story of Netflix from fledgling mail-in DVD business to what is now one of the largest online streaming services in the world. The book was lacking in the development of how the company was built. Instead, Randolph spent too much time on irrelevant personal details that detracted from the storyline i.e. his outfit at the media tradeshow. The author seemed more like spectator than the founder of Netflix. Entrepreneurial and life wisdom are generously offered but nothing really sticks.
Thoughts/Insights:
- No one really knows anything until the idea/concept is materialized and becomes successful
- Getting over the shame of asking and fear of being rejected are critical skills to master for anything worth pursuing
