Ouf. 2021.
A mouthful, a handful. A year that forever changed my life. I don’t know what this year will bring but hopefully it will be a little easier on the heart. Luckily, I have Jay Shetty’s podcast to thank again for these reflection questions. So, let’s gooooo.
Q1: What made you feel most happy last year?
My new rollerskating hobby, my trip to the west coast with Raina/Jared/Erika, celebrating my 29th birthday with all my girlfriends.
Q2: What made you unhappy last year?
So many things…Death, mental illness, family drama, feeling alone, being betrayed…need I say more?
Q3: What was the biggest lesson you learned last year?
That love is bigger than ego and also to trust sparingly. I would elaborate, but then I would end up writing you a book and then possibly crying out my soul, so let’s just leave it at that.
Q4: What do you wish you would have done more of last year?
I wish I had more energy to invest in creative projects and to travel outside of Canada. Let’s hope I can do more of both this year:)
Q5: What’s something you want to do less of this year?
I want to be stingy with my time this year. I want to spend more time acquiring skills and less time on draining relationships. Also spend less money on stupid shit.
Q6: What was your biggest success this year?
My biggest success this year was not metaphorically dying LOL It is still a mystery how I am at a desk typing this while relatively sane (at least I think I am). I am proud of myself for not letting last year devour me whole.
Q7: When was a moment you failed last year?
I think there were two big moments: when I let my emotions take over rational thinking and also when I didn’t trust my gut. I think this year, I want to focus on more emotional awareness, taking a moment before responding and also tuning in my intuition to make better decisions.
Q8 What is something you want to learn this year?
I want to learn how to cook…well! More specifically, I want to have five signature dishes that I can cook without looking at the recipe and proudly showcase to friends. Other lower tier things I want to learn in order of importance: how to sew, web design & marketing, how to play the guqin, boxing.
Q9 What is your favourite way to refuel?
I noticed that the activities I enjoy require me to be alone (how introverted of me), and have to do with music and movement. Dancing, rollerskating, running all involved these elements.
