Today I attended a heels workshop at Studio North. The masterclass was comprised of three separate classes which included 1) technique with Elisha 2) slow and sexy choreo with Alessia 3) Elisha and Alessia – Tour life theme. The classes started at 2pm and ended at 5:30pm. I got downtown around 12 ish and did some reading at a nearby cafe before dancing for 3 hours, then did a little shopping before going home. Overall a great day of exercising and also chatting with my dance friend.
Here’s what I observed today/am proud of:
- Running and going to yoga has really strengthened my body. I look more fit and feel a little more grounded when doing simple walks
- Pirouettes and Chaines are big weaknesses or fears I need to conquer. I need to practice spotting so I’m not rolling around like a bouncy ball
- I’m proud of going up to dance in the volunteer round despite not knowing the choreo perfectly
- I go to less dance classes now but I don’t feel as tense when I dance. My new mindset is to enjoy the moment and do my best
- I learn the most (even if it’s just watching) from amazing teachers who can choreograph and students that inspire me through dance. I’ve exceeded the beginner bar and will need to challenge myself by levelling up to inter/adv classes, taking privates to continue updating my skills, and exploring new movement through other types of dance (mostly contemporary for this year)
Unrelated heartwarming moment: On the way back to Union station, I saw someone slip a bill into a homeless person’s shoe while he was sleeping horizontally on the seats. It inspired me to buy a patty for the homeless person near the convenience store 😇
